Going Green Tag

1. What started it all off for you?
My scalp! I've had major issues with irritation and bumps all over my scalp. After researching online, I found a community that completely changed my life! With the information I found on that forum board I was able to lessen my scalp issues and grow my hair past my shoulders - which I could never do before. With the success I saw, I had to give the natural approach a shot with my skin. So far I'm doing alright, especially in the skincare department. But I'm still on my JOURNEY to go green. I still have a lot of work and learning ahead of me.

2. What was the first thing to go? (Ingredient or product)
SLS Shampoo - It was the bane of all my scalp issues.

3. What are you/did you struggle to let go of?
Finding a sunscreen that worked as good as my Dior ! Also, being a woman of color, concealer is a bit of a struggle.

4. What has been your best find or change? (i.e a green product or a tip that you're really glad you've found/learnt)
OILS! They work so much better than I expected, for both my hair and skin. My hair has completely changed in texture and is waayy more manageable.

5. What has been the worst thing about going green? What has been the hardest to transition or find an adequate green replacement of?
I think the hardest part about going green is:
            1. Not being able to go into a store to pick up products. This is actually good for my wallet so I don't end up with a hoard of products. But I miss going into big retail stores and trying on products.
        2. This might be unrelated but its a pet peeve that I want to share - Cruelty-Free Companies switching  over to animal testing. This makes one less brand I can choose from and dwindles down my options.

6. Anything else to add? Any tips or tricks to pass on?
Going Green is a journey that is completely your own. More importantly, it doesn't have to be  linear- if you have to take a step back to move two steps forward, then that's fine. Just do what you need to reach your goals. So its ok if your path isn't like everyone else's. Also remember, there is a community of natural bloggers that can be supportive. Reach out and start a conversation!

  1. Great post, I love that my tag has started doing the rounds again! :-) Your answers are so similar to mine, I can't deal with SLS and I love oils too! Great minds think alike :-) xx
