Top 5 Cruelty-Free Beauty Products to Battle Winter

With winter here and in full force, the moisture has been literally zapped out of me. My hair, skin, and lips have been sending out SOS and here are some products that have come to my rescue!

1. Cocoveda Shampoo Bar: Winter is the toughest season for my hair. Not only is it dry, but so is my scalp! Using commercial shampoos just irritates my scalp even in the summer but in the winter it's practically the death of me. A gentler, and of course, a moisturizing alternative is Hennasooq's Cocoveda Shampoo Bar. It's made of shea butter, coconut milk, henna, and many other quality ingredients. It doesn't strip my hair, but calms my scalp, and moisturizes my locks. A complete winter hair care must have!

2. Burt's Bees Almond Milk Hand Cream: I use this to soften my dry and rough winter hands. This works great on my cuticles as well. I love the scent of this. I could smell it all day long! Its a sort of banana and almond type of scent. It leaves your hands nice and moisturized. As amazing as this is, it does take a few minutes for it to absorb into your skin fully.  I usually leave it on my desk at works and love the classic packaging.

3. EOS Lip Balm: After getting through the top layer of this, I found this to be ultra creamy, and effective at healing my chapped lips in a day. It also, smells delicious, and is easy to find in my purse because of the bright color. This tastes ....not bad. I know its not for eating :) but honestly, we ingest what we put on our lips. Its inevitable.

4. Elf Lip Exfoliator : Though the EOS lip balm helps to moisturize my lips, applying lipstick in the winter is a challenge. In the colder months, I do get a bit of flaking so I find this to be a nice remedy. Lip scrubs are an easy DIY but if traveling or away from home, this is good to keep on hand for convenience.

5. Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil: Though most people are piling on the lotions and creams, oils are way better to help your make it through the winter. Unlike lotions and creams, oils absorb faster and have properties to nourish your skin and hair. Moreover, this is a multitasking product. I use this on my cuticles, face, and ends of my hair. This has been working really well to balance out my T-zone as well. I would whole heartedly recommend trying out facial oils.

  1. I have never used a shampoo bar, what sort of hair do you have? I have really thick hair, how does it compare to 'normal' shampoo? Lip scrubs are the best especially this time of year, they make wearing matt lip pencil easier and more appealing, x

    1. Hi Amy,

I have medium to thick hair that is also fine in texture. Shampoo bars are much more gentler in than "normal shampoos". So they are great option for those with sensitive scalps or dry hair.
Lip scrubs are a must for this cold weather!

  4. This is a great post :) I've been wanting to try some Josie Maran products for ages! I totally agree with you on oils - I'm much preferring to use oils as opposed to a ton of different lotions at the moment!
