Product Review: Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil

Product Review: Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil

Product Description & Claims: (From Sephora's Website)

  • What it is: A 100 percent pure organic maracuja oil.
  • What it does:   This undiluted organic and moisturizing maracuja oil quickly absorbs for firmer, brighter, smoother skin. Pure maracuja oil is rich in vitamin C, so skin appears instantly brighter and more radiant. The oil is also a source of essential fatty acids (EFAs), a requirement for healthy skin cells that the body cannot produce on its own. EFA deficiency can result in the breakdown of essential skin cells which causes skin to appear dry and aged. By supplementing skin with pure maracuja oil, you are infusing life back into dull skin and replenishing EFAs to rapidly rebuild and repair. This potent antiaging elixir that has anti-inflammatory benefits promotes active skin recovery and delivers maximum hydration without any greasy or filmy feel.
  • What it is formulated WITHOUT:
  •  Parabens
  •  Sulfates
  •  Synthetic Fragrances
  •  Petrochemicals
  •  Phthalates
  •  GMOs
  •  Triclosan
Packaging: At first glance, the packaging is very sophisticated and just gorgeous. But after some use, I realized it was just plain flimsy as the dropper top came apart in a few uses.

Where to buy: UltaSephora, and Tarte

Would I Repurchase?  I really didn't want to like this because of the price point but it has definitely helped my skin so I will be repurchasing the rollerball. But that doesn't mean I won't be open to other facial oils, though.

My Experience:
I was a bit skeptical of putting an oil on my face given that my skin is naturally acne prone and oily. However, the hype got to me and I caved. I hauled it from Ulta way back for $10 bucks but I still was kinda scared to try it. So some time passed before I could bring myself to try it. I know...praline, you're so dramatic....but hey, that's the truth!

So when I first tried it, I noticed the smell. Its a light nutty smell that not overbearing at all. It almost dissipates after application. Second, its an oil, but not as greasy as I expected. True to claim, it absorbed within minutes. I used this strictly at night and noticed a big difference in my skin the following morning when I woke up. I was significantly less oily. Also, after a couple of weeks of use, I noticed my skin had improved both in texture and tone.

Overall, I'm so happy with this product. I'm not sure how this oil works but it's like magic in a bottle. This little bottle has lasted me almost 4 months and I'm just now half-way through.

  1. I've been loving the Dilo Oil by Kate Somerville, and the Oilless Oil by Peter Thomas Roth. My skin goes crazy when I stop using them, and when I use them regularly my skin looks smoother and more even. I might just have to try this one next!
