DIY: Coffee Body Scrub

D I Y : Body Scrub using Coffee, Sugar, Coconut oil and Lemon Juice
Its the end of March and apparently, spring is here. It's almost that time to shed the winter coats and say hello to dresses and bright colors. But while shedding our layers, lets not forget to prep our skin with this easy DIY homemade body scrub.

Scrubs are a great way for removing those dead skin cells and leaving your skin soft and smooth. But a DIY is even better because you know exactly what ingredients are in the product and its actually doing you good. So what's not to love?

Here's what you'll need:
3-4 Teaspoons cup coffee beans (They can be the leftover kind after your morning cup of joe)
4 Teaspoons granulated sugar
2 Teaspoons of coconut oil (or whichever oil you prefer)*
1 Teaspoon lemon juice *
1 plastic container

Here's what to do:
1. As you can see from the above picture, my coffee grounds are finely milled. If you have whole coffee beans you might have to use a grinder or crush them with a mortar and pestle.
2. Mix coffee grounds, sugar and lemon juice.
3. Gradually add in the coconut oil until the right consistency is achieved.

* coconut oil is my personal preference since I have acne prone skin. Coconut oil is known to be anti-bacterial so can help with certain kinds of acne. However, if you have dry skin, I recommend you substitute with olive oil. For normal skin,  almond oil works well.
* lemon juice is optional. However, I recommend it for acne or oily skin since it has many anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties.
