Anyone remember science or chemistry class from school? It always made me feel like I was in Potions class. Potter fans, anyone? I get that same feeling of excitement when I DIY salves, oil-concoctions, masks, or any other of beauty experiment. Needless to say, an afternoon mixing ingredients is just my cup of tea.
So I've just got one of my recipes down just the way I want and it's so easy that I thought I would share :)
What you'll need:
1 ripe Avocado
1 teaspoon of Lemon juice
~ 1 cup of water
~ 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil
Fork for mixing. A mixture device is optional but highly recommended.
What to do:
Step 1: Cut the avocado into smaller pieces and begin mashing. Gradually add in a cup of water until the mixture is a yogurt-like consistency. I recommend using a blender to help give your product a fluffy and consistent texture. You don't want any chunks at this point.
Step 2: Mix the mashed avocado with lemon juice.
Step 3: Heat olive oil until lukewarm. Gradually add in the olive oil.
Step 4: Wet hair with warm water....Not hot. Divide and clip hair into small sections.
Step 5: Apply mask so it evenly coats hair. This can be done either using your hands or brush.
Step 6: Cover and leave in for 30 minutes. Then wash as usual.
Results:
Shiny Smooth Hair :)

Precautions:
This recipe suits my hair well. But depending on your hair
type you might need to “tweak” the ingredients. So if your hair is finer,
perhaps a lighter oil like jojoba or camellia oil would work better.
Be aware that lemon juice can dry out your hair if too much is used or
left on for too long. So starting out with a conservative amount should be considered.
OOh this looks great, Ive never made my own hair mask before xxx

Oh this hair mask sounds wonderful! And I already have all the ingredients in my pantry. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis looks really easy! I've heard avocado and olive oil are both great for your hair, but I'll probably skip the lemon (my hair can get pretty dry as it is).
